For those of you new to this list, we assure you that none of the names on this e-mail list— nor the names of Museum visitors, conference attendees, or bookstore customers—are shared with any other individuals or organizations. If at any time you wish to be removed from this list, please let us know.

All of our previous Updates, dating from March 2004, are archived on our website at www.wilhelmreichmuseum.org.

In the next month or so we will be mailing out brochures and posting more detailed information about the 2006 Summer Conference: presentation topics, schedule of events, etc. We will also be making a concerted effort to promote this conference to medical and health professionals. 

2006 SUMMER CONFERENCE - ORGONON
JULY 17 – 21, 2006

       2007 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ORGONOMY
       Saddleback Mountain Lodge – Rangeley, Maine – July 2007

As we celebrate the life and legacy of Wilhelm Reich M.D. on the 50th anniversary of his death…

And as we look ahead to the opening of the Archives of the Orgone Institute to researchers and
scholars on Monday, November 5, 2007…

The Wilhelm Reich Infant Trust and The Wilhelm Reich Museum invite the global community of
those committed to Reich’s legacy to join together for an exchange of knowledge, hope, and friendship.

We look forward to the participation of individuals and organizations throughout the world…and we ask you to join with us in a place that Reich first visited and fell in love with in 1940…the place he called home from 1949 until his death… the place that was essential to his orgone energy research for nearly seventeen years: the Rangeley Lakes Region of Maine.

Because we anticipate a conference involving several hundred people from around the globe—too large for Orgonon’s Conference Building—we have chosen to host this event just a few miles from Orgonon at the beautiful new Saddleback Mountain Lodge. Which provides ample meeting space, dining facilities, accommodations, and easy access to The Wilhelm Reich Museum, the amenities of Rangeley, Maine, and all of the Rangeley Lakes.

We are now in the process of contacting individuals and organizations for their participation, and further developing the specifics of this International Conference on Orgonomy. And we’ll be updating you further as our plans progress. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or suggestions at: wreich@rangeley.org.

       ELEMENTS OF THE 2007 CONFERENCE

The International Conference will be a blend of formal 30-minute presentations, panel discussions, plenty of time for socializing, and two afternoon activities designed to enrich your appreciate of the natural environment of the Rangeley Lakes region that was crucial to Reich’s life and work: an historic tour of Orgonon, Reich’s home and research center (now the Wilhelm Reich Museum); and a moderate hike up Bald Mountain—on the road where Reich owned his first cabin—to view Mooselookmeguntic Lake where Reich first observed atmospheric orgone energy. (see page 93, The Cancer Biopathy.)

The following preliminary schedule is subject to change as we move forward with our plans. But we feel it accurately represents a general overview of the 2007 conference.

• Conference Building (formerly the Student Laboratory)
• Orgone Room, with a presentation on The Oranur Experiment which took place here
• Reich’s two cottages on Dodge Pond
• The Orgone Energy Observatory
• Reich’s original cloudbusters
• Fields, forests, and trails on Orgonon’s 175 acres

ACCOMODATIONS IN 2007

A wide variety of accommodations are available in the Rangeley region. Condominiums at Saddleback Mountain Lodge. Hotels, motels, and bed & breakfasts in Rangeley and Oquossoc. Lakefront cottages and other rental properties. As well as outdoor camping, including lakeshore and wilderness sites.

Renting a condo or cottage with a group of people is an ideal way to economize. And think about coming up on Saturday, or staying a day or two later, to better enjoy the Rangeley Lakes area. For those who prefer lakefront rentals, we urge you to plan ahead since the Conference is being held during the summer season.

We will be working with our friends at the Saddleback Mountain Lodge and the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce to direct you to accommodations that best suit your preferences and needs. 

A SPIRIT OF COOPERATION

While we always offer to pick up travel and lodging expenses for presenters at our annual Summer Conferences, regrettably we are in no financial position to assume such costs for presenters at the 2007 International Conference on Orgonomy.

This will be an event with close to 20 presentations, hopefully by people from around the world. And as most of you know, our greatest ongoing challenge is securing the necessary financial support for an operating budget of approximately $150,000 a year.

We hope that this early announcement of this Conference—together with the significance of the year 2007 itself, and the excitement of bringing together a global community dedicated to Reich—will inspire prospective presenters and attendees to commit and plan well in advance, and to work cooperatively with others, if necessary, to secure the necessary support to attend this conference.

During the next few months, we’ll continue to update you on further developments for 2007.
